BE A WORKCAMPER HOST
Enjoy your stay as a campground host at a four season, twenty eight campsite, alternative lifestyle campground where you will provide a friendly welcome to the gay and gay friendly members. As host, you will assign the campers to a suitable campsite and provide information on the campground, campground policy and make suggestions on visiting the many sights and activities in the area. The host position requires the workcamper stay overnight in the campground during their duty days in case a night emergency. In exchange for your services you receive a free full hook-up campsite with a utility allowance. Lot rent for a campsite at Davis's Oasis is $250.00 per month plus electricity. The tax law allows the payment of a tax free, living allowance (per-diem) when workcampers are required to be on the resort premises overnight. The resort pays per-diem at the rate of $25.00 per day for the days the workcamper is on duty. Being a workcamper volunteer at David's Oasis is a way to have fun while supplementing your income without being liable for taxes on monies received. Hosting is a great way for the young at heart to stay active, meet new friends, enjoy the activities at the resort and have the satisfaction of being appreciated by the resort's members.
WORK PLACE: David’s Oasis is a new, membership, gated year around camping resort catering to the gay community, ages 21 and over. The camping resort is on a 120 acre ranch six miles from the quaint, historic city of Bisbee, Arizona. Bisbee has been voted as having the best year around climate in Arizona. The elevation at the ranch is 4300 feet and persons with heart or breathing problems may not be comfortable living at this altitude.
JOB DESCRIPTION: HOST/CARETAKER Workcampers
MUST be gay or gay friendly, at least 21 years of age and have an attitude that
will allow the workcamper to treat the gay member/guests with dignity. In order
to give workcampers more free time we have two campsites at the office designated
for workcampers and try to have two parties to share the host/caretaker responsibilities.
We welcome single applicants but being a couple gives the workcampers more freedom
on the days they are on duty. The duty schedule will generally be, on duty three
days during one week and four days the next week but the scheduling is flexible
to allow for time when a workcamper needs to be off duty.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT EXCLUSIVE TO:
Open the gate in the morning and close it at night.
Answer the office phone and take reservations, (cell phone) between 11 am and
7 pm.
Assign campsites and maintain the reservation book.
Warmly greet guests on their arrival.
Register guests and explain park rules as needed and show guests to their sites.
Familiarize guests with area events, attractions, and services.
Assist in making each guest’s stay at David’s Oasis a pleasant,
memorable experience.
Assist in preparing for events, help host events and help clean up after events.
Assist in maintaining the lodge by picking up and performing other cleaning
tasks.
Walk or use the golf cart to do a visual check of the resort keeping an eye
out for potential problems and pick up any trash on the grounds en route. problems
and pick up any trash that may be laying around on the grounds in route.
Monitor to make sure there are no ground fires, all outdoor fires must me contained.
Pick up individual trash bags at each site daily before dark and take them to
the disposal area.
Make coffee, set out food for toaster continental breakfast at 8 am Sat and
Sun and put away at 11 am.
When a problem arises in the park call the person designated by management.
Greet business visitors and direct them to the person they need to see.
Perform maintenance tasks, watering plants, grounds keeping to include caring
for new grass plantings, possibly some painting and help set new things as needed.
Receive mail and freight being delivered to the resort.
Be available on the resort property at night in case there is an emergency.
In the event of an emergency, call the appropriate agency and assist in handling
the emergency.
